Maegan Vick, President

Maegan Vick is a nationally certified, licensed professional counselor with a M.Ed. in school counseling from the University of Montevallo. Maegan is currently a second year doctoral student at Auburn University studying counselor education and supervision. She has worked in both the high school and elementary school setting as a counselor for the past several years and is currently an adjunct professor teaching school counseling at the University of Montevallo.

Emily Rich, Past President

Emily Rich is an elementary school counselor in Shelby County, Alabama. She graduated from The University of Alabama in 2005 with a B.A. in Psychology and from The College of William and Mary in 2007 with a M.Ed. in Counseling. She has been a school counselor since 2007 and with Shelby County since 2008. She has served on the Executive Board for the Alabama School Counselor Association since 2009 serving as Professional Recognition Co-Chair, Secretary for two terms, President Elect-Elect, and now as President Elect. She is a National Board Certified Counselor and has been named in previous years as Shelby County Schools Elementary School Counselor of the Year and Alabama Counseling Association Emerging Leader.

Margaret Fox, Treasurer

Mrs. Margaret McFadzean Fox was born and raised in California.  In 1980 she, her husband, and two small children moved to rural south Alabama.

Mrs. Fox is a graduate of Troy University with a Master’s degree in Elementary Education.  Mrs. Fox also has a Master’s degree in School Counseling.  Mrs. Fox is active in Delta Kappa Gamma (professional women educators organization), and the Alabama Counseling Association.  Mrs. Fox has served in many capacities in the Alabama Counseling Association including current ALCA President 2016-2017,  ALCA past Treasurer and Parliamentarian, and the ALCA Chapter IX Treasurer.  Mrs. Fox is retired from Opp City Schools where she was the Guidance Counselor at Opp Middle School for twelve years and a teacher for fifteen years.  Mrs. Fox is a director with the Miss Alabama Organization.

Mrs. Fox lives in rural Crenshaw County, Alabama, with her husband, Dave, who is a building contractor.  They have two adult sons and two grandchildren.  She and her husband enjoy traveling and playing bluegrass music.

Lisa Butler, Historian

Lisa Butler is a nationally certified, licensed professional school counselor. She graduated from the University of Montevallo with her bachelor’s degree in psychology and her master’s degree in Counseling. She graduated from the University of Alabama with her Educational Specialist Degree in Counselor Education. This is her 1st year to serve on the Alabama School Counselor Association Executive Board.
