The Alabama School Counselor Association and affiliated organizations believe in the importance of acknowledging current efforts at improving school counseling in our state. There are various ways in which a school counselor can excel at their programming and in their school community. Below are a few of the ways in which ALSCA and other organizations seek to recognize and award those efforts:

The purpose of the Alabama School Counseling Program of Distinction Award is to recognize Alabama School Counselors for their commitment to delivering a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program. Find out more about the Program of Distinction Award.
The purpose of the ALSCA Legacy Scholarship is to provide recognition and financial assistance for the first year of full-time post-secondary education for a deserving child and/or grandchild of an ALSCA member. The purpose of the Emerging Leader Program is to recognize those who have the potential to provide future leadership for our organization. Leaders are our association’s lifeline and are essential to the counseling profession. Find out more about the ALCA Emerging Leader Program.
National School Counseling Week, presented by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. National School Counseling Week is always celebrated the first full week in February. Multiple resources, many of them free, are available to help you celebrate National School Counseling Week.
